Statistician - Addlestone based at Addlestone, Surrey This is an exciting opportunity to use your statistical knowledge to solve real world problems in the areas of animal health and food safety. Situated within the Centre for Epidemiology and Risk Analysis, you will apply your statistical knowledge to increase understanding of animal and public health issues and provide scientific advice to help inform Government policy. With considerable opportunity to shape your role, you will help to identify and solve problems of national impact through statistical consultancy and training. You will communicate these results to increase awareness of the techniques and develop novel methods through academic collaboration. To succeed in this interesting role, you will require a degree in a mathematical subject with a significant statistical component and have experience using statistical packages. A postgraduate qualification in statistics (or the desire to obtain one) would be an advantage. Play Ranger
We are looking for one or two Play Rangers to deliver open access play opportunities to children and young people in the Borough, ideally starting in either August or September. Funded by the BLF (Big Lottery Fund), these posts are offered initially for three years and would be suitable if you are looking for a rewarding and challenging role in the Play sector. You will have a good understanding of play values and will use this knowledge, combined with outreach work to deliver a variety of different play opportunities. You will be expected to have extensive experience of working with children and or young people and the ability to manage your own work load. The initial six months of the project will involve working with Runnymede Borough Council, Play Partnership in order to deliver a variety of different pilot projects. These will take place in parks, open spaces, playgrounds, playschemes and after school clubs. These posts are initially for 17 hours per week but hours may be increased, subject to demand and partnership working with other local Boroughs. We can be flexible to some extent regarding working pattern, but you will need to be available some afternoons and evenings and perhaps the occasional weekend. Hours of work will also be subject to seasonal fluctuations. Leading projects and undertaking research on diagnosis as well as other related areas of anti-mycobacterial immunity, you will develop and maintain national and international collaborations, prepare grant applications, and disseminate results.
