Tenure-Stream appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor
The Department of Geography, University of Toronto Mississauga, invites applications for a Tenure-Stream appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor with expertise in Remote Sensing. The candidate is expected to take up the position on July 1, 2009. The Department seeks a candidate with the potential for an international reputation and vision in the theory and application of remote sensing to research areas in physical geography such as (but not limited to) natural resources, land-use, and environmental processes. The successful candidate will join a tri-campus Geography department with strengths and interdisciplinary links in both physical and human geography including hydrology, biogeography, environmental modeling, remote sensing/GIS and health. The appointment is at the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM), which has a strong interdisciplinary commitment, a multicultural student body, and a modern, spacious campus. The appointee will be well supported in their research and teaching initiatives by dedicated departmental geographic computing resources and an existing geospatial research cluster. Strong participation in the UTM Geography undergraduate program with dynamic participation in the GIS degree stream is expected. Job Description: Provide Outcomes Research support for a species business unit reporting to the Sr. Director Outcomes Research, Animal Health, US Operations. The Associate Director/Director, under the supervision of the Sr. Director develops and implements outcomes and economic strategies supporting medical and marketing programs for the species business unit. Work closely with a cross-functional team to support overall medical and marketing objectives for the species business unit. Actively collaborate with field based Veterinarian Operations and sales teams to demonstrate the economic value of products to our key customers. Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Masters degree (MA, MS or MPH) with 10 years experience in health services research, public health, epidemiology, or health economics. Sr. Finance Compliance Analyst
Job Description: Location: This position is located in our New York City Office Background The Compliance function within Pfizer Animal Health (PAH) was established late in 2006 with one key responsibility; the review and approval of field force documented plans for interactions with customers. These plans are referred to as Professional Education Interaction (PEI) plans. In 2007, a cross-functional team within the division established and issued a policy on interactions with animal healthcare professionals and other customers. This Policy serves as a guide in determining what PEI plans are appropriate for approval. In early 2008, the Compliance function?s role transitioned from preapproval of PEI plans to the review of selected plans after the plans are approved by field management. The role has also evolved to include a number of other review/audit type responsibilities. See Specific Responsibilities below for further details. Specific Responsibilities 1. Perform monthly audit of PEI plans approved in the prior month. ? For exceptions noted, contact plan?s approver(s) and identify the variance from policy. ? Propose recommendations when appropriate to strengthen internal controls. ? Summarize exceptions and how resolved (i.e. reported to approving management, event canceled, PEI plan rewritten, escalated to Human Resources and/or Business Unit Head, etc.) ? Meet quarterly with each Business Unit Head to review exceptions and how resolved. ? Create a consolidated semi-annual summary of exceptions to share with the U.S. Operations President and the VP of Finance. 2. Perform monthly audit of payments related to PEI plans with a focus upon accuracy, proper documentation and timeliness of payment. ? Meet quarterly with HQ Senior Finance Manager to review exceptions. ? Propose recommendations when appropriate to strengthen internal controls. 3. Partner with BT in regards to PAH?s field force system in order to: ? Ensure system is updated, when necessary, for policy changes ? Facilitate changes to assist the field (e.g. pop-up reminders, approval workflow, etc.) ? Identify efficiencies in work stream ? Create reports to assist PAH Compliance. 4. Proactively work with Learning & Development Group to address training issues impacting the field, including policy updates, process reminders and follow-up in regards to frequently asked questions. 5. Maintain open lines of communication with the field force (e.g. daily correspondence and discussion, area meetings, national sales meetings, etc.). 6. Interact with WPO Compliance to ensure alignment in process and controls. 7. Provide follow-up and explanation on all PEI-related expenses questioned in PAH?s quarterly T&E audits. 8. Perform additional audit work as determined necessary, both related and unrelated to field force interactions with customers (e.g. divisional P-Card expenses, payments unrelated to PEI plans, user access in regards to PEI systems, etc.). 9. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and process guidelines. 10. Serve as point of contact for Internal Audit during review of field practices. Qualifications Required Qualifications: ? Postdoctoral Fellow Biophysics and cellular imaging
A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Michelle Krogsgaard at the Department of Pathology and NYU Cancer Institute, NYU Medical School in New York to study conformational changes in the T-cell receptor complex that could be responsible for mediating TCR signaling using novel imaging and biophysical techniques (Krogsgaard, Mol Cell, 2003; Krogsgaard et al., Nature, 2005; Krogsgaard and Davis, NI, 2005). Interested candidates should have a recent Ph.D. in biochemistry, biophysics, bioengineering or related fields. This position focuses on bio-imaging at the single-molecule level. Experience in fluorescence microcopy (live cell imaging and FRET) is favorable. Other experience in chemical modification of proteins, cell culture, protein purification, flow cytometry and molecular biology would be a plus. The successful candidate is expected to be highly motivated, creative and capable of contributing productively in a team environment. Micro- and Molecular Biologist
The research group of Dr. Bruno Sobral, Professor, Executive and Scientific Director, at the Virginia Bioinformatics Institute at Virginia Tech, (https://www.vbi.vt.edu/faculty/research_groups/pathosystems_biology), seeks an experienced Micro- and Molecular Biologist to collaborate with a team of scientists and researchers in experimental research in the areas of molecular biology and biochemistry. The research focus will be to conduct experimentations in the areas of general cloning and vector construction, PCR, nucleic acid manipulation, and oligo/primer design for rhizobium systems. The Micro- and Molecular Biologist is expected to serve as a key member of the laboratory in providing nodulation assays and analysis of proteins and data sequences in the development of manuscripts for grant proposals, white papers and other scientific documentation. In addition, the Micro- and Molecular Biologist will train and mentor junior laboratory personnel, to include graduate and undergraduate students, in carrying out experimentations and other related research activities. The successful candidate will have a Master?s of Science degree in Biological Sciences with focus in molecular biology, microbiology, or equivalent experience and demonstrated post degree laboratory experience in a research environment. In addition, the candidate will have experience in recombinant DNA technologies, to include DNA/RNA isolation and characterization, PCR, basic cloning and vector construction, DNA sequence analysis skills (including oligo primer design), protein analysis (including design/construction of over-expression vectors, protein purification, quantification and characterization), and gel electrophoresis. Other required skills include working knowledge of basic computer analysis programs for molecular biology, experience with general laboratory maintenance and development of laboratory protocols, as well as the ability to work independently with little supervision in a fast-paced, dynamic research environment. Preferences will be given to candidates having knowledge or experience with plan and/or rhizobium systems (including plant growth and maintenance) and nodulation assays, and experience with high-throughput generation and analyses of data (gene expression and proteomics); experience in training and supervising junior staff; or experience in developing publication for high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
